One man was taken into custody by Punta Gorda police after he seemingly intentionally got himself arrested in order to get a place to stay- that is to say, jail. Police officials say an unidentified man approached two officers in the parking lot of police headquarters, asking for help to find him a place to stay the night. Without prompting, the man then told the officers he had drugs in his car, and told them where to find the narcotics. While officers combed through the car, the man then stripped off his clothing and ran to a nearby IHOP, where he was arrested and taken to the Charlotte County Jail.
