A 27-year veteran of the Sarasota County Sheriffs Office is calling it a career. Captain Charlie Thorpe was honored this week for his nearly 3 decades of service.
Thorpe was the one behind the intelligence-led policing model known as Intelligence-to-Action, or I2A. That method was recognized and then recreated by law enforcement agencies across the nation. Since 2014, he had served as the Investigations Bureau commander.
Wednesday, officials from the North Port and Venice Police Departments, State Attorney’s Office, FDLE, FBI and ATF all honored Thorpe at the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office downtown headquarters.
