There’s good news for the real estate market in our area. New data out the this week by real estate researcher ATTOM Data Solutions shows only 11 percent of homeowners in Manatee and Sarasota Counties are what the industry calls ‘seriously underwater,’ or owing 25% or more on their mortgage than what their house is worth. The number of homeowners who are underwater dropped by nearly 6,000 from the same time last year, a sign that property values are finally on the rebound. The two-county area ranked 35th among the 88 largest U.S. metro areas for its share of homes that are underwater.
