Some local state reps are having buyer’s remorse after public outcry about a bill that could limit beach access.

Some, like state reps Joe Gruter and Wengay Newton, admitted to the Herald-Tribune they didn’t know the potential implications of the bill when they voted for it.

The legislation that passed this year – HB 631 – would mandate that cities and counties to get permission from a court before moving forward with customary use ordinances that would guarantee access to beaches in front of private property.
