Dozens of American Red Cross volunteers from the region have packed their bags and are making the trip north to aid the victims of Hurricane Michael.There are 53 volunteers total from Sarasota, Manatee, DeSoto, Hardee and Charlotte counties. Twelve of the volunteers are from Sarasota. The volunteers are first heading to a staging site in Tallahassee. They’ll then be dispersed to different locations that were affected by Hurricane Michael. Jim Faeth is one of the local volunteers heading north. He’s been a Red Cross volunteers for more than 15 years.
