A misstep from the Florida Legislature looks like it will take away more than $158,000 from a local group that funds programs for the homeless.

The Herald-Tribune reports the state budget that goes into effect in two weeks includes $4.1M in grants for homeless organizations to help needy families.

Not included in the budget- language that directs the state to actually spend the money.

27 homeless agencies statewide are now in danger of losing funding- some as much as $350,000.

Locally, The Suncoast Partnership in Sarasota and Manatee counties is expected to lose $158,500.
