The Braves aren’t the only business to expand and create jobs in North Port…that was a theme commonly brought up Friday at the South County Tiger Bay Club luncheon.

North Port city economic development program manager Ruth Buchanan, pointed out that manufacturing is also making a bit of a comeback in the city. King Plastic Corporation is nearly doubling its current facility, MTI Equipment is set to move into a 40,000 square foot facility off Toledo Blade Blvd from their current Englewood location, not to mention the opening of Suncoast Technical College.

As for construction projects to watch for, next month, West Villages will start construction on a road network within the community and will break ground on a new wastewater treatment plant this spring.
