The Suncoast Humane Society in Englewood is asking for the public’s help for donations to help the animals that have been affected by Hurricane Harvey. The Humane Society’s executive director, Phil Snyder, told ABC-7 they will be accepting items that animals may need, and then having a donated Penske rental truck full of pet supplies delivered to Texas to help. Snyder said among the items they are looking for will be food, Dawn liquid soap, leashes, and plastic crates. Friends of Manatee County Animal Services have also started a Hurricane Harvey Pet Relief collection at various locations throughout Manatee and Sarasota counties. They too are taking in pet supplies and food as well as accepting monetary donations to assist with the pets in need in Texas.
