Lido Beach’s massive renourishment project is now officially underway.

More than 185,000 cubic yards of sand is being brought in to fix erosion problems. The sand is being dredged from Big Pass and brought in.

The current project is still just a temporary fix. The city and county is still navigating some legal hurdles in order to dredge hundreds of thousands of cubic yards of sand by next fall.

The current phase of the renourishment process is expected to be done by February.
