Libertarian Alison Foxall announced Monday that she would run for a state House seat in District 72. That seat opened up after freshman Rep. Alex Miller resigned last week, saying she needed more time with her family and her business. Foxall, a Booker High School graduate, has lived in the district for 25 years. She said Monday she wants to ” cut wasteful spending, eliminate unnecessary barriers to entry for many industries, and cut individuals’ tax burden here in Florida.” That Sarasota County seat includes Siesta Key and Osprey, and leans Republican. Gov. Rick Scott has not set a special election for HD 72 yet, and Foxall follows Republican James Buchanan, son of U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan, in announcing her candidacy.
