Multiple residents of North Port’s Islandwalk Community have been diagnosed with Legionnaires Disease. Michael Drennon, the county Director of Disease Intervention, told ABC-7 they believe the disease may have come from the pool or spa area in the community, and testing on the water is underway. The community’s owner, Divosta Homes, told the station they were alerted around 4 o’clock on Friday afternoon and had the pool area closed down within a half hour and will remain closed until testing has been completed.
