Lee County deputies are investigating a homicide in south Fort Myers near Alico Road. The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Eddie Powell Jr. Deputies were called to Island Park Plaza on South Tamiami Trail around 3:15 Sunday morning and found Powell dead at the scene. Police have not said how Powell died and the investigation is ongoing. Business owners at the plaza said they saw investigators dusting a white car for fingerprints and gathering evidence for hours on Sunday.
