CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Jan. 10, 2020) – The annual Landscape Gardening Series sponsored by the University of Florida/IFAS Extension Charlotte County Master Gardeners will begin Jan. 23. Six sessions will be held 9:30-11:30 a.m. on consecutive Thursdays at Port Charlotte Beach Park, 4500 Harbor Blvd.

 

Gardening in Southwest Florida differs from anywhere else in the country. The lecture series is a condensed training for people to learn to successfully manage their gardens and landscapes. Newly transplanted residents and experienced gardeners alike will benefit from the expertise provided by the lecturers. The series includes:

 

Jan. 23: Propagating Plants with Mike Stevens, Master Gardener

Jan. 30: Peaches and Blueberries with Dr. Mongi Zekri, Citrus Special, UF/IFAS

Feb. 6: Palms and Diseases with Dr. Brian Bahder, Asst. Professor, UF/IFAS

Feb.13: Success with Succulents with Joyce Laubach, Master Gardener

Feb. 20: Pruning Your Landscape with Dr. Pat Williams, UF/IFAS Sarasota

Feb. 27: Tropical Ferns with Gil MacAdam, Ret. Broward County

 

The cost of the series is $25 if pre-registered by Jan. 20. Pre-registration is recommended but you can also pay $5 per class at the door, seating is limited. All monies go to improve community horticultural outreach educational programming in Charlotte County.
