The memories of Mary Knowlton continue following her funeral yesterday at First United Methodist Church in Punta Gorda.
She died in last week’s shooting during a citizens police academy.
It happened during a “shoot, don’t shoot” demonstration.
Officer Lee Coel apparently aimed a weapon and fired it at the 73-year-old Knowlton.
Chief Tom Lewis said that gun should have blanks in it, not live ammunition.
The Herald-Tribune reports the pastor ending the service yesterday said “hurt and pain” could “incapacitate” people. However, he also said people could “do something to change things.”
