Former Manatee High School football coach Joe Kinnan’s lawsuit against the school took a major hit Tuesday after a judge dismissed seven of eight counts that Kinnan brought forward against the School Board of Manatee County and other administrators. A negligence charge is the only one still standing after Judge Lee Haworth tossed aside most of the charges that included several against former superintendent Rick Mills and investigator for the school board Troy Pumphrey. Kinnan stood firm that he was harassed by Pumphrey and called him the former superintendent’s personal “henchman”. Kinnan was accused of multiple scandals involving the baseball team and a case involving a coach who pleaded no contest to battery involving a female student. The judge said there were too many inconsistencies and missing information to have the case move forward.
