A judge has ordered that the trial of a former Punta Gorda police officer will not be moving out of the area.
Lee Coel faces charges in the shooting death of Mary Knowlton at a citizens academy demonstration last year.

Coel’s attorneys unsuccessfully tried –for the second time– to get the trial moved, claiming social media had led to “the community’s negative feelings against Coel.” His trial is set for October 15th.
