More than 2,200 insurance claims related to Hurricane Irma remain open -just in Sarasota, Manatee and Charlotte counties- some seven months after the storm ripped through the area. According to the state Office of Insurance Regulation, more than 924,000 property owners filed claims for insured losses related to Irma at a price tag of more than $8.6 billion statewide. Just in our three local counties alone, more than 27,000 property owners filed claims.
