Public transportation in Sarasota and Manatee counties may soon be privately-owned, thanks to an Illinois business. Transdev services have proposed combining the two programs with a plan to become more efficient and save taxpayers millions of dollars each year. The company originally proposed the deal, which is essentially the same, back in 2014. New components could include the driverless vehicle that is scheduled to be at an event in January at University Town Center. Recent route eliminations have been recognized by Transdev and they are hoping that they would be able to revive those routes if their deal is approved.
