More than nine months after Hurricane Irma rolled through, a lot with more than 30 unclaimed and damaged boats has finally been cleared away in Charlotte County.
Those boats were dumped in an empty lot on Tuckers Grade Road right off of Interstate 75 in Punta Gorda- nearby residents were told the boats would be there for a month for owners to claim them…and then 30 days turned into nearly 30 weeks.
Not one of the 33 boats ended up being claimed- they were all taken to be recycled or destroyed.
