A simple traffic stop led to the discovery of a huge marijuana grow operation in Punta Gorda. Over the weekend, a traffic stop done by deputies in Lee County led Charlotte County officials to a home on Disston Avenue. There, police found an out building housing a large marijuana grow operation. Inside the small structure, deputies found 21 mature plants, 31 clone plants, 10 small plants, and more than 72 grams of bagged pot. In all, the total weight of the haul was estimated at more than 225 pounds. 49-year old Lazaro Banos was arrested on multiple charges related to the manufacture of marijuana.
