It was a mixed bag when it came to the local housing market in April. According to data released this week, sales of single-family homes rose in Sarasota and Manatee counties, but dropped in Charlotte County. Last month, buyers across the area closed on 2,466 homes on condos, down about 3 percent from last year. As for home prices, they continue to be on the upswing. The average resale house price in Sarasota and Manatee was $281,950, up 8.4 percent over last year. Prices in Charlotte County rose 2.3 percent, to $194,450. Condo prices largely stayed flat in all three local counties. Statewide, home sales were down 1.2 percent compared to 2016- condo sales dropped by 4 percent.
