Charlotte County veterans have been honored over the years, taking part in Southwest Florida honor flights. Now, they’ll be able to leave without having to travel too far.
Starting next year, honor flights will leave out of Punta Gorda Airport.
Ginni Fay with Southwest Florida Honor Flight told the Charlotte Sun that the group still has room for nearly 100 veterans for the next flight in May.
All expenses are paid through donations, allowing World War II, Korean and Vietnam veterans to head to DC.
