Home prices remained on the upswing in Manatee and Sarasota Counties in May. While it’s good news for homeowners, it’s less so for would-be buyers that already are looking at -in comparison with other parts of the state- limited availability in the area. Overall prices in the two-county region surged 6.3 percent compared to the same time last year, according to real estate researcher CoreLogic’s latest report. That’s just a shade under Florida’s 6.4% statewide 6.6% nationwide increase. In May, the median sales price for an existing single-family home in Manatee County was $299,000. In Sarasota County, the median sales price in May was $260,000.
