In a bit of good, non-hurricane related news…home prices in the region rose once again in July compared to last year. Housing data provider CoreLogic said Tuesday home values in Sarasota and Manatee Counties rose 4.1 percent in July, and by more than 9 percent in Charlotte County. The state average saw home prices increase by about 6.2 percent in July- slightly below the national average of 6.7 percent. The average home price in Sarasota and Manatee Counties was $280,000. In Charlotte County, the median sale price of a home climbed to $213,750.
