More Sarasota County high school students are achieving the honor of wearing a cap and gown. New figures released by the Florida Department of Education show that, overall, the county graduated more than 85 percent of its students in the last school year, compared to the statewide average of 79 percent. And that was four percent better than the year before. According to the Herald-Tribune, Venice High School saw the biggest increase going from 80 percent of its students graduating in 2015 to 93 percent in 2016. Pine View School in Osprey had the highest graduation rate at 99 percent, up one percent. Imagine School at North Port had a nine point increase, up to 79 percent.
