The National Hurricane Center in Miami is forecasting heavy rains and winds for most of northern Florida as Tropical Storm Hermine [[ her-MEEN ]] approaches the Big Bend as a minimal hurricane. Hermine is about 300 miles south of the Big Bend at Apalachicola. The storm is expected to intensify and be reclassified into a Category One hurricane sometime today and before landfall. It is expected to come ashore in the Port Saint Joe area with winds of 75 miles per hour tonight.
