A North Port man has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a sleeping teenager. 41-year-old Jeffrey Ryan is facing the possibility of life in prison when he is sentenced next month. The victim, a 16-year-old girl, reported the incident in May to school friends, who then notified a North Port Police school resource officer. She was taken to Sarasota Memorial Hospital where a sexual assault kit was conducted. An investigation determined that Ryan had raped the victim while she was sleeping.
