Today is Giving Tuesday–a global day of giving celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It helps to kick off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. The one-day event is designed to raise awareness of the community needs and to encourage individuals and organizations to give back and help the people that live and work in our neighborhoods. Local organizations that can use financial help include the New Paradigm Foundation, Suncoast Humane Society and Englewood Animal Rescue Sanctuary–all in Englewood. Tri-Counseling and Life Skills Center in North Port. And the Blue Alert Foundation, United Way South Sarasota County and Habitat for Humanity South Sarasota County–all in Venice.
