The New Year began with increased gas prices, reaching the current national average of two-34 per gallon. Triple-A says the average has moved higher for 34 of the past 35 days, largely due to market reactions to last fall’s OPEC deal. In Florida, the statewide average price for a gallon of regular is two-41, up nine cents from a week ago. It’s up even more in Englewood, which saw a 12-cent increase to two-41 a gallon; in North Port, regular averages two-38, up 11 cents; and, in Venice, a gallon of regular averages two-34, up nine cents.
