Just in time for the holiday driving season, gasoline prices are rising–fast. According to Triple-A, the statewide average for a gallon of regular today is two dollars 31 cents. That’s up 10 cents from a week ago. In Englewood, regular averages two-29 a gallon, up 15 cents. In North Port, it’s two-28, up 19 cents. And, in Venice, a gallon of regular will set you back two-31, also up 19 cents since last week. The price of gas is going up because the price of oil is going up. That follows recent announcements that OPEC and non-OPEC oil-producing countries plan to cut production, alleviating the glut of oil that’s kept gas prices low.
