Gas prices leveled off over the holiday weekend, after declining for more than three weeks. Triple-A reports that, on Sunday, the statewide average rose by a fraction of a penny in Florida after declining 39 consecutive days. That’s because of a rise in oil and wholesale gasoline prices. Triple-A says there’s upward pressure on fuel prices, based on speculation that OPEC will agree on production cuts to curb the global oversupply that left prices low. The current statewide average price for a gallon of regular is two-09, down two cents from a week ago. In Englewood, regular averages two-02 a gallon, down three cents; in North Port, it’s a dollar-96, down four cents and, in Venice, it’s two dollars a gallon, down five cents.
