US 41 at Port Charlotte Boulevard was closed for a time this afternoon because of a natural gas leak.
Police say while there was no imminent danger the area was evacuated as a precaution,.
It took crews about a couple of hours to get the leak capped and US 41 reopened around 2pm.
So far there’s no official cause revealed for the leak but authorities say there was construction work being done in the area.
