Authorities continue to search for Brian Laundrie in the Carlton Reserve in Venice, Florida.  Officials will not say why after halting the search of the reserve a few days ago they have resumed scouring the area.

A Wyoming coroner has confirmed that remains found at a campground in the state are in fact those of Gabby Petito, 22, and that the manner of death is homicide, the FBI announced Tuesday.

Teams used infrared cameras overnight and air boats, ATVs and even the Sarasota mobile command unit worked through the day on Tuesday.  Lee County Sheriff’s Office has joined the search, using drones to access dangerous areas.

The Carlton Reserve is 25,000 acres dotted with waters that are infested with alligators and snakes making the search treacherous. It is known that Laundrie was an avid camper.

As of Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021, the Carlton Reserve is closed until further notice. Recreational opportunities are available at nearby preserves.

The FBI is still calling Laundrie a person of interest, not a suspect, but it does call this a criminal investigation.
