HOLBROOK, N.Y. —Long Island funeral home in Holbrook, held a viewing on Sunday for Gabby Petito, whose death on a cross-country trip has captured the hearts of the country. The search for her boyfriend Brian Laundrie is still missing and he is considered a person of interest in her death. Gabby was a Long Island native who moved to Florida several years ago.
Over a thousand mourners attended the public memorial. Petito’s parents have launched a foundation in Petito’s memory to support other families of missing children.
Petito was reported missing Sept. 11 by her parents after she didn’t respond to calls and texts for several days while she and Brian Laundrie visited parks in the West.
Her body was discovered last Sunday in Wyoming. Laundrie and Petito grew up on Long Island but in recent years moved to Florida.
