Officials with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will be running tests this weekend on a new bloom of green algae that has popped up in Lemon Bay. Charlotte County referred the matter Thursday to the FWC, who will determine the algae’s toxicity. One man told WINK-TV that he first saw it near Manasota Key in the days immediately after Hurricane Irma passed.
