North Port’s water supply faces a threat of contamination.

A tanker crash over the weekend on I-75 caused a spill of thousands of gallons of fuel.

Crews responded, and they thought they had everything under control.

Rain followed, however, and that allowed the chemicals that treated the spill to seep into a creek that flows into a treatment plant.

Equipment arrived to stop the spread, and the plant shut down.

Tests continue to determine whether or not people can drink the water.
