A Seminole and a Gator are teaming up in Palmetto, and the whole Suncoast wins. Adrian McPherson, who played at Florida State, and Reggie Davis, who played at Florida, both starred at Southeast High School in Bradenton. On Friday, Nov. 27, they’re hosting the inaugural Legacy Weekend Tailgate and Watch Party at Sutton Park, with the FSU-Florida game on a big screen starting at 2 p.m.
Admission is free, covered by a donor, and the day includes food trucks, live music, a kids zone and raffles. Youth football organizations and former players are expected to join in, which should give the afternoon a real hometown reunion feel. The event benefits RI5E Leadership & Sports Academy, McPherson’s nonprofit that provides academic support, mentorship and leadership development for local young people.
Sutton Park is at 1006 Sixth St. W. in Palmetto, and full details are at thelegacyweekend.net. Bring the family, wear your colors, and come out for a cause that goes well beyond the final score. Will you be there — and more importantly, who are you rooting for?
