The cost of electricity is about to go up. State regulators have given Florida Power & Light the okay for a substantial rate increase request. On Monday, the Florida Public Service Commission approved a hike of more than 800-million-dollars. The increase will be phased in over a period of years, with the average residential bill expected to go up by about seven-dollars a month starting in January. FP&L is Florida’s largest electric utility with about five-million customers.
