Four Green Bay police officers were injured early Saturday morning after a vehicle drove into a crowd near a food truck at Doty and Washington streets. The incident began as a disturbance call just after 2:15 a.m. When officers arrived, a car plowed into bystanders and officers, prompting one officer to fire their weapon. No one was struck by gunfire, and the four injured officers are expected to recover after receiving medical treatment.
The driver fled the scene but was stopped near North Monroe Avenue and Pine Street and arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated, with assistance from Wisconsin State Patrol. The Brown County Sheriff’s Office will investigate the officer’s use of force, and that officer has been placed on administrative leave under department policy. The downtown farmers market was canceled later that morning while investigators processed the scene.
