A Fort Myers drug dealer who sold fentanyl that killed a man has been sentenced to more than two decades behind bars. Gregory Apicella, 52, will spend 24 years and four months in federal prison, according to the Department of Justice. He sold fentanyl at his home to a 21-year-old on Dec. 29, 2017 and Jan. 18, 2018. After taking the fentanyl, the victim, identified only as J.Y. in documents, died of an overdose. Lee County deputies later searched Apicella’s home and found a large amount of fentanyl, as well as methamphetamine.
