A former priest from Southwest Florida, accused of sexually abusing multiple young boys four decades ago, made an appearance in an Iowa bond court.
Father Leo Riley stands accused by the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office of sexually touching four boys in Iowa between 1984 and 1986.
In court on Monday, Riley faced the judge who issued a no-contact order and set his bond at $500,000.
Four men have bravely stepped forward, reporting that Riley sexually abused them during the mid-1980s while they served as altar boys in grade school.
Riley served in four Southwest Florida churches. Although he faced at least one allegation of sexual abuse in 2015, he was never convicted. However, the sheriff’s office apprehended him in April.
Riley now faces five charges of second-degree sexual abuse.
