WENG recently told you about millennials distancing themselves from SWFL when it comes to home purchasing. Now, the second piece of bad news has dropped as foreclosure activity is on the rise. Experts say it is because of the devastating hurricane season of 2017. However, the foreclosure numbers are lower than this time last year, providing a mixed bag of information. A report in the Sarasota-Manatee area lists 467 foreclosure filings between January and March. That is a huge jump of nearly 40 percent from the 4th quarter of 2017, but nearly the same amount of a decline over the same period last year.
