The National Hurricane Center in Miami still has its eye on a tropical disturbance appraoching the Bahamas.
The agency says this wave north of Cuba has a low to moderate chance for development through Tuesday.
This forecast represents a downgrade from previous projections that gave it a strong chance of intensifying.
Nevertheless, meteorologists still expect South Florida to endure squally weather and several inches of rain by early next week.
Meanwhile, the hurricane center also keeps watching an area of low pressure in the Gulf of Mexico south of the panhandle.
It gives that system a low chance for development.
