The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Myakka River at the state park.
It says a heavy amount of rain in the forecast through Thursday may caused minor flooding.
At this time, forecasters project the river to rise over a foot above flood stage by Saturday morning. They compare this potential crest to the one from flooding in 1971.
Additionally, the weather service thinks the river could rise even more after Saturday morning.
Finally, it reminds everyone not to drive cars through flooded areas.
