A man fleeing from a Charlotte County Sheriff’s deputy hit the deputy with his vehicle. It happened Wednesday morning near the entrance to the Riverwood residential complex. The sheriff’s office says deputies were responding to a report of a suspicious vehicle containing a male subject. The man got into a confrontation with a deputy, struck the deputy with his vehicle, sped from the scene toward the main entrance to Riverwood and crashed through the guard gate. The suspect continued heading north into the complex, where residents pointed deputies in his direction. The vehicle came to a dead end on Creekside Drive in the northern most end of the complex. The driver fled on foot into a marshy, wooded area and was subsequently apprehended by deputies. The suspect was identified as 26-year-old James CJ Swore, who is facing multiple charges, including aggravated battery on the deputy.
