Five people have been arrested and charged in connection with the death of five-year-old Aniyah Williams in Newberry, South Carolina. According to police, Williams was taken to a hospital unresponsive on Aug. 6 and was pronounced dead the same day. About a month later, authorities announced charges against Ebony Davis, Jamarion Sligh, Mantrevis Sligh and Isis Gary, each facing murder/homicide by child abuse and aiding and abetting charges, while Tekeyia Sligh faces a murder/homicide by child abuse charge.
Bonds of $100,000 were set for four of the suspects. Gary and Davis posted bail and were released, while Tekeyia Sligh was denied bond and remains in custody along with the two Sligh men. Authorities have not released details about how Williams died or how each suspect is alleged to be involved. Several agencies assisted in the investigation, which remains active.
