A boy is the first baby born in Sarasota County in 2017. Sarasota Memorial Hospital says Colton Slater Pryce was born at 12:39 a.m. on Sunday, January 1st. The hospital says his mother went into labor while watching the ball drop in New York City’s Times Square on television. Obstetrician Frederick Fitzgerald Jr. handled the delivery. Baby Colton weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces, and was 20 inches tall. SMH staff offered family and friends non-alcoholic champagne to ring in the New Year’s Baby and presented a gift to the new mother.
