Eight were rescued and one person injured in a brush fire at Caspersen Beach Park Thursday. The Venice Fire Department said the fire broke out around 1:45pm. Crews from Sarasota County, Nokomis, Charlotte County and Florida Forest service assisted with the fire. A Venice Fire Department rescue boat was able to remove the eight people from the pier, while one man was treated for smoke inhalation. No homes were damaged and no cause has been released yet.
