Manatee County may soon look to revisit a potential contract with home-sharing website Airbnb. While county commissioners say the county is missing out on tourist development tax dollars by not signing a contract with the company, tax collector staff still stand behind their decision to turn down the contract, citing a perceived lack of compliance. 23 other counties statewide- including Sarasota County- have agreements in place with Airbnb. Two prospective Airbnb hosts as well as members of the Bradenton Area Convention and Visitors Bureau are urging commissioners and the tax collection staff to revisit the deal.
