The highway patrol says someone died in this morning’s crash in Sarasota.
It happened on I-75 southbound at Fruitville Road.
This deadly tanker crash involved a second vehicle and caused a fire.
The patrol says the tanker hit the back of another vehicle, and that vehicle left the scene.
It also says it contacted that driver, and it now has him in custody.
Flames fully engulfed the tanker after the crash.
All this shut down the highway. The investigation closed it for three miles.
The patrol has not identified the person who died in the crash.
